Description

Sony’s PXW-Z190 4K 3-CMOS 1/3″ Sensor XDCAM Camcorder is the world’s first professional camcorder with a 4K (QFHD) 1/3-inch type sensor. Red, blue, and green light are independently captured by separate image sensors within the Exmor RTM system in 3840 x 2160 resolution at up to 60fps. Even if you’re delivering in HD, 4:2:2 10bit recordings will capture detail and image texture that HD sensors simply cannot see.continues the fine tradition of the XDCAM series of cameras. It captures 4K at up to 60p, relying on three 1/3″ Exmor R sensors that provide improved low-light capability compared to standard sensors. The camera integrates a 25x optical Sony G zoom lens and an electronic variable ND filter. The camera supports a variety of codecs out of the box, with an optional MPEG HD license enabling you to shoot HD video.

The camera supports HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma), allowing you to shoot and deliver footage compatible with both HDR (high dynamic range) and SDR (standard dynamic range) without needing laborious post-production work. Dual SD card slots permit a variety of recording options, including simultaneous HD and 4K recording. The camera features built-in 2.4 and 5 GHz Wi-Fi.

The PXW-Z190 features newly developed Face detection AF. You can choose between Face Priority AF and Face Only AF. Simply keep the person in frame and however you move to obtain a better angle, you can be confident the PXW-Z190 will keep your subject in pin-sharp focus.

Sony’s ground-breaking integration of electronic variable ND Filters into the body of a camcorder enables fast, agile shooting. Moving from shadowy interiors to bright sun-lit exteriors is no problem with the PXW-Z190. Unlike conventional optical ND filters, the electronic ND filter on the PXW-Z190 can be controlled from 1/4ND to 1/128ND linearly while ND Filters can be set to fully auto. You can even manually adjust Depth of Field using the iris lens ring, while relying on the PXW-Z190 to maintain constant exposure without changing gain nor shutter speed.

Shoot, edit and view HDR content in HLG without the need for additional colour grading. Premium content services are switching to HDR and the PXW-Z190 is ready with Hybrid Log-Gamma (HLG) recording, for easy file-based workflows, whilst achieving the image quality of HDR. This simple workflow enables the shooting, editing and viewing of HDR content in HLG, without devoting a lot of time to post-production work and additional colour grading.

MI Shoe provides signal connections and coordinated on/off switching to compatible Sony accessories. Connectors at front and back of camcorder maximize operational flexibility. For example, you can connect and control Sony Wireless Microphone systems such as the UWP-D11 or UWP-D12 and the HVL-LBPC light at the same time.* Cable-less connection eliminates the risk of accidental disconnection.

The PXW-Z190 offers four channel audio recording with two independent volume dials enabling precision control of external audio inputs, including an MI-shoe attached microphone.

The camcorder is equipped with two SD memory card slots, which can record in either Simul or Relay or Back up mode. Simul mode permits simultaneous recording to two memory cards, ideal for archival purposes. Relay mode automatically switches recording from the first to the second memory card when the first is full to extend recording times. In Back up mode, users can set up the two Start/Stop buttons on the PXW-Z190, one on the grip and one on the camcorder body, to independently start and stop recording on different memory cards while recording in Simul mode. Simul and back-up recording are limited to HD operation.

PXW-Z190 comes with 5GHz* and 2.4GHz Wi-Fi as standard – simply turn on and log onto your preferred network. Install the free ‘Content Browser Mobile’ app** on your smartphone to operate the camera remotely controlling Iris, Zoom, Focus WB and other functions from the palm of your hand. One-touch authentication is also possible with smartphones that offer NFC connectivity.

XAVC technology is based on the H.264 standard, which provides an exceptionally robust and efficient compression technology. XAVC Long GOP applies compression across multiple frames – reducing file sizes, which can make for fast ingest and editing as well as providing budget savings on recording media. In HD shooting, the XAVC codec adopts 10-bit sampling for high definition recording with rich tonal expression.
